Update
Following multiple reliable reports that Botafogo have accepted a bid from West Ham for John Victor - discussions over personal terms are said to have begun as all parties look to finalise the move in the coming days. The goalkeeper is open to the move, and if talks proceed smoothly, the transfer could be confirmed in the coming days - which would see the buying team secure one of their top targets and put their rivals on notice. West Ham remain optimistic, but the deal is not without hurdles. Nottingham Forest, Man Utd and Everton continue to monitor developments and could yet re-enter the race if negotiations stall or valuation gaps remain unresolved. This season (25/26) West Ham have shipped 16 goals in 7 matches - 2.29 a game, which is well above the Premier League average. John Victor would be expected to come in and help tighten things up at the back. Alongside this, Botafogo are said to be exploring Antony Santos with West Ham likewise connected to Mehdi Taremi, Junior Mwanga and Ibrahim Sangare. Stay tuned for more details as the story develops.
