It's official: Malick Fofana has signed for Sunderland from Lyon. The forward's move has been confirmed by both clubs, with personal terms and registration finalised. He will now link up with his new teammates ahead of the upcoming fixtures, having completed a medical and agreed on contract terms. After interest from Crystal Palace, Galatasaray and Roma, it was Sunderland who persisted and completed the process. All formal steps are now done, and the player will begin work with his new club immediately. In season 26/27, Sunderland are only scoring 1.0 goals per game (2 in 2), below the Premier League average. Malick Fofana would be brought in to give them more bite in the final third. Alongside this, Lyon are said to be exploring Matt O'Riley and Lois Openda with Sunderland likewise connected to Alexis Claude-Maurice, Dodi Lukebakio and Kevin Danso.
