Alex Freeman, currently with Villarreal, is the latest name linked with a potential switch to Tottenham. The defender could become a key signing should the move materialise, as the club seeks to strengthen in a key area of the pitch. Tottenham are still pushing to finalise terms. However, Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United are still watching closely and may return with offers of their own. Defensively, Tottenham are sitting around the league average this season, at 1.43 goals conceded per game. Someone like Alex Freeman could keep them steady but also raise the level when it matters most. Reports suggest Tottenham are monitoring Carlos Borges, Lucas Da Cunha and Ruben Loftus-Cheek whereas Villarreal have not been associated with other players at this stage.
